Welcome to St Michael’s Braintree!

St Michael’s Church is a lively evangelical church situated in the centre of Braintree, Essex.

Please join us for any of our services in church – there is no need to pre-book.

In light of the increasing Covid cases, we are continuing with services in the Church building, and Junior Church in Church House, with some extra measures to help keep everyone safe.

  • Following advice from the local Director of Health, we now strongly encourage everyone to take a lateral flow test before attending church or other “in person” events.
  • Face coverings are now mandatory (a legal requirement) in places of worship, unless you are exempt.  The requirement includes young people 11 years of age and over.  We urge you to continue wearing face coverings when singing please.  As usual, face coverings can be removed if leading, reading, praying or preaching.
  • For the time being, we will not be having refreshments at church.  The Next Plus (14-18s) Breakfast has had to go on hold at present.

We will keep these measures under review and will keep you informed of any changes.  Thank you for all you are doing to protect one another.

On Sundays when there is not a Family Service, we have Junior Church (3-14s) at 10am.

There is no need to pre-book seats – just come to church or Church House and we will be delighted to welcome you.  The church is laid out in “zones” with some unrestricted seating and some socially distanced seating.  As mentioned above, face coverings are now required (unless exempt) and we enjoy singing together in church.

The service will also be available online and is uploaded during the week – this is the link to our “St Michael’s Worship on the Web” YouTube channel for all our online services -  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUSpCS4VeWkujfG3HyKVVVA

You can also access our service through “St Michael’s by Phone” – just dial 01376 333565 (phone calls charged at the local rate).  The latest service is available throughout the week.

Details of other activities are on our weekly Notice Sheet and monthly LINK magazine, available via tabs at the top of this website.

We send a weekly email, with updates of events, groups and other things happening at St Michael’s.  If you would like to receive this, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will make sure you receive this.
